I have tried something o my own, and it is channeling the dead. I hAve one person close to me who died just last week. I had lavendar incense burning while I closed my eyes ready to sleep. I asked, Monica are you at Renew? She answered with a yes. An answer!! I actually got an answer. I just started a tad bit on channeling, but I am afraid that I may end up running into someone dangerous someday.
So here is the question: Can anyone become able to channel spirits? Or does someone have to have a special ability that they are born with to do so? Or can anyone channel from meditating everyday and doing a spell?

I don't try to channel the dead entirely, but sometimes when I know someone and he/she dies, such as 3 students at my high school, I hear weird voices. Their voices....Is this normal?

I think some people will find it a lot easier than others but if you're persistant and practice it will start to happen.

You need to learn how to protect yourself - that's important.

Many towns have someone giving lessons and/or workshops on channeling - if you can't find something like that then as Elia said get yourself a good book on the subject.

If it's anything like the library in the town near to me you won't find a book on that subject, lol.

I'd check out Llewellyn or Abe Books or Amazon.

I don't think that anyone can "channel" the dead. That requires special abilities in my opinion. You may have that ability. I also don't think all the dead persons want to communicate with the living ones.
On the other hand, running into someone dangerous while speaking with the dead is the same as running into someone dangerous while speaking with the living.
I'd say the next time you'll have such an experience, concentrate more and you'll find your own answers.

Like whoa, Michael and Blackthorne have it so right. Yes you can communicate with the dead but to do so with a specific deceased person involves more of a shamanic trance practice, necromancy, conjuring. "Channeling" is basically inviting any random bodyless conciousness to puppet your body. Not cool for many reasons and can have very bad very long terms side effects. If you really want to go that route go with spirit writing, you still need to be very disciplined to do this correctly but it is safer. It is better to let something move your hand around from the outside of your body than to let somethings else ocupy your mind. Like I said, so not cool. I can recomend some reads if you want.

Um yeah kinda, It's more like possension. You are suposed to go into a trance and your consciousness checks out for a while and the spirit moves in and uses your body to speak move around etc. But what you're talking about is exactly why it's dangerous. If you're not disciplined enough to evict it and take back control of your own body it can try to come back in our never really be completley out. Your personality can change mental issues. It could try to get back in when it wants instead of the reverse. Uh picture this. . . two frustrated people fighting to drive the same car, ON THE FREEWAY, doing 80 mph or so. Could you imagine trying to get through the day with another consciousness trying to invade. (Shivers) Eww.

Not really. Sometimes I have weird dreams, like this one I had of my persian cat I used to have who died from cancer..... There was something eerie about her though, her body was emaciated and had red spots...ugh...she looked so alone too...Can cats invade people too? I am just wondering.

Oh may bad, I should have read that other post more carefully. Hearing voices can just be your higher self trying to contact you or your psychic sense picking something up. Don't FREAK whatever you do just clear your head and meditate on it. Figure out what your environment is trying to tell you. And um no I don't think animals deceased or living have the mental capacity to "invade". They most definitely can communicate in dreams and visions though.
