When it comes to wood for wands use the one that calls to you. It is calling for a reason.

You could also research the properties of the different woods. For example apple is regarded as having female energy. An apple wand would be symbolic of fertility, peace and having plenty; and would be a good aid to the Witch working with fairy magic. The apple tree is sacred to the Celtic goddess Rhiannon.
Ash wood - is regarded as having male and female energies. Ash is aligned to the Earth element and the Norse believed the Ash tree was sacrd to Odin. The magical properties of ash - aids in communication and wisdom and can aid writers. It is supposed to protect against unwanted change.
Birch wood - good for use in cleansing rituals. It is a symbol of rebirth and renewal.
And so on.......

A Willow tree is associated with the Female, the element of Water, the Moon, protection, healing, divination and love!

I didn't bother with correspondences when I went out looking for my wand and I ended up with a sycamore wand which resonates from my childhood making it powerful for me.

I was pruning my peach tree in the fall and saved a piece of it as an afterthought in the basket where all the BBQ utensils are. I just found it the other day and I must say it's rather nice! I wonder about peach tree wood....

Greetings, I love making wands, when i go for walks I'm always on the lookout for a nice tree. My Celtic tree correspondance is Oak, but I have not collected one of those yet. I have Hazel, Apple, Rowan Tree and my favourite, Holly. Making your own wand connects you to the tool but the best wand of all is your own finger. Handy at all times!
