I really want to become a bit more experienced, but I am having trouble keeping myself motivated. It could be my other activities (such as school, etc...) are getting in the way, but even when I have free time, I feel like I want to practice, but I don't act on that feeling. The odd thing, is that I usually accomplish much more if I have a structured schedule given to me, but obviously I don't have such a schedule. So, if anyone here has had that problem, or maybe they want to help me set up some sort of routine, please respond.
Thanks guys.

Ooh, yes. Elia will keep you accountable! I have to do this with school work and house work or else I won't write my essays until the day they're due or clean the house until someone gets mad. I tell my husband what I'm going to do for the day and he asks me what I got done that night.

I had that problem too so I'm starting this thing where I do something every day, meditate, tarot, runes, etc. It's simple and doesn't bog me down.

Wow this is great Elia. Now I feel like I have someone who will enforce a schedule. Hopefully this helps, cause I got about 5,000 books about witchcraft... I'm really excited that this has worked for others, and I wasn't the only one with this problem. I'll start reading tonight! Maybe you could PM me later, Elia?

Oh, I think it's happened to most of us at one time or another, lol.

If you have trouble staying motivated maybe you need to find something that you really want...walking a path is not a matter of how much you read and sometimes reading gets in the way of self experience and self exploration. walking a path should be a joyful experience permeating your every day life and not a separate activity.

That's the problem, though. I DO want this, but I just can't seem to stay MOTIVATED.

I found that Gary Cantrell's "Wiccan Beliefs and Practices" is a very simple, straight forward starter ~ my copy is so highlighted I may as well have colored the whole book in yellow I used it together with Scott Cunningham's "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" ~ I also have Raymond Buckland's "Big Blue" but felt more comfortable with the first two ~ As I have traveled my path I've discovered that my practices are more to Green/Hedge/Kitchen witchery and I love Ann Moura and Silver RavenWolf's books. I've also discovered that you are given all kinds of signs along the way and once you learn to open yourself to those signs, things begin to so fall into place. No of this happens overnight and as you move along you will discover that if this is where your heart is, it becomes a life long journey and you never stop learning.
Blessings, Silver Firelite

One of my friends always asks me at times when I am not motivated, "Do you have regular a spiritual practice?" For me, right now, just means meditating. The more I meditate the more I am with spirit (the divine, higher power, whomever you want to connect with). It has helped me to slow down because I want to do everything at once and know everything to. So besides homework maybe this will also help you. Just a thought.

how about instead of sitting down and reading start doing stuffs...I don't know what your interests are but take cooking for example (cooking is one of the best spiritual practices in my opinion) learn the spices and herbs that you use on a daily basis and start literally working the magick by mixing in whatever you need like protection, money etc etc.

Jeez! I feel overwhelmed by all of these suggestions! I wish I was a bit older so I could do more...
