Does anyone know of a miracle cure for sinusitis?

I suffer from this dreadful curse every year and sometimes all year round, mostly in winter though, and seeing as it is now winter here, I am blocked up to the point where I have begun to snore and gasp for air, worried I stop breathing all together...

You name it, I've probably tried it, with no luck, I get a little relief for about an hour and then BOOM, I'm all blocked up again.

Not flu related, just major sinus... or should I say MAJOR SINUS!

TP costs are going through the roof due to my rapid and constant usage. I buy one bag for the house and one bag for my nose... Jokes aside!

I've even developed the ability to stay awake after large amount of codiene from all the tabs I've popped in my life time, and nasal spray.. what a joke. Herbal remedies also seem to fail me.

Anyone out there with a imilar problem and perhaps has a cure for this aweful ailment?

First of all all the otc nasal sprays are only for the last resort. Except, saline nasal spray-it will flush out the mucous. See an ear nose throat Dr. and have them thoroughly check you out including an allergy test. If it's possible you have had repeated sinus infections you may have scar tissue (my grandmother had this problem and a minor surgery fixed it). Also, you need to be tested for sleep apnea. It's really important to eliminate or treat that if you have it. I used to have terrible sinus headaches and used afrin nasal spray which created a viscious cycle and nothing really worked until I got off the afrin.

I used the saline spray and had about a week of headaches until I was free of the afrin. I took Ibuprofen and drank alot of starbucks to relieve the headaches, and now, ta da, here I am with a rare sinus problem--ever.

You can mix salt with water and snort a little up your nose (seen this on Dr. Oz show) Its suppose to be good for your sinuses, he says do it every morning.

Thanks a stack, I will look around for the saline spray, if not I may have to use my daughter's saline nasal drops and just squeeze the bottle a little harder for myself, ha ha. That could be quite an experience.

I have been looking into the sleep clinics to see if I have sleep apnea, was told it's pretty serious and trying to find a specialist not too far from me may be a bit of a problem.

My ENT spec said due to me breaking my nose several times in my life, from being a rough tom boy, I was told the inside of my nose is all messed up and surgery could be something I may have to consider. Not fond of the idea though.

As for the salt water snorting, that sounds interesting and would try that as soon as I am able to snort a little. Isn't saline the same as salt water?

Thanks to both of you for the help and advice, will give both a try.

Yes saline is the same as salt water. I'm sure you can find the appropriate ratio of a salt vs. water recipe on the internet. Try googling saline nasal rinse recipe. Also there is a item called a neti pot, if you'd like to do it entirely homemade. I find that the little saline nasal spray bottles are very cheap, a couple dollars, so I just do that.

Thanks, I tried some "home made saline" was a bit tricky, but the salt water worked well, I am cleaer today than I was yesterday and I am sure tomorrow will be even better. Great tips, thanks, will see if they work in the long term though.
