Merry meet one and all,
just a quick question as i have heard that certain woods correspond to zodiac signs..... how does this work and does it matter if you dont have the corresponding wood for your sign for your wand?

I honestly don't think it matters unless it matters to you :) Yes I believe it is Celtic where the Trees associated with the dates of birth are from. Some call it the Celtic Zodiac but not sure if thats correct or not. Having correspondences is great and can enhance the experience but it doesn't necessary limit it either so if you have a piece that doesn't match your Zodiac sign and it still sings to you then I say that works!

thankyou Michael and i agree with you my corresponding wood is birch however the fact that it is linked with that it was used for punishmnet alone kinda puts me off and i am drawn to willow for some reason oh well i have both woods and bf is makin them into wands so whichever feels right will be "the one"

If you dont know where to start i find looking at correspondences as a good starting point for wood, crystal, incense and anything really but if you are particularly drawn to one then i think this overrides correspondences as it is the connection we have that is important.

p.s my wand is willow :D

Merry Meet Everyone,

I just had the most wonderful experience and I'd like to share it. I am very new to The Craft and I have been wanting to gather my tools, especially my wand. I just seemed to be called to find myself a wand almost to the point of stressing about it?!? Anyway last night I did some serious research regarding the wood one should use to make a wand. I have a few different trees on my property, but I couldn't decide which one would be right for me. Then I noticed that the Australian Pines (I live in Florida) seemed to be beckoning me. I've always loved them and they are one of the chief guardians to the border of my property. Tonight I took a walk out to them (I live on ten acres) and asked them if one of them would like to give me a piece of branch for my wand. I walked around and was guided to a tree which had a branch growing straight up out of another larger branch. It was perfect. I prepared the tree for a quick chop and then thanked it for a most beautiful piece of wood. I measured the appropriate length for my personal cubit and cut the straightest part of the branch to that length. I then sat outside on my porch during the sunset and removed the bark and green layer. After that I sanded the wand to smooth it and brought up the most beautiful graining. I rounded the ends and noticed that each end has a beautiful, natural starburst pattern in the wood. It looks like a golden asterisk! I washed, oiled and consecrated it and then practiced the Magician's (Tarot) stance for a couple of minutes. I believe I actually felt a tingle of power going through me!

I learned that the spiritual meaning of pine wood is: creativity, life, longevity and immortality. I am really happy and excited with my new wand!

This is how I see it too. As well, certain woods are associated with certain deities and I find this more important. And certain woods are used for certain ritual or spell work.

I am looking for the right wand. If I consider the Celtic correspondences I should choose Birch but since I've read about Rowan it's just calling me so I think I will let my intuition to win.

On the other hand, I am devoted to the Triple Goddess and her symbol so I guess that on this bases, I should choose a Willow one. What do you think?

I think you should go for a walk among those types of trees and see what presents itself to you!

Good idea! Thanks :roly:

I guess the Birch and Rowan were not the right cause I wasn't so sure and now are gone in the store. I just take it like a sign. I think cause I've already seen a wand that it's so nice but is not made from wood and you are all saying that the best thing is to be made from wood. Anyway I saw this one: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Primitive-Magick/_i.html?_fsub=2384240014

but I am affraid that in the long way to me from USA, it will arrive all broken.

I am realistic and I don't feel like to be a "forever" wand cause is full of everything and all those stones may fall down one day but it's really fancy!!!!!!! :miss pink:

Merry Meet,

I looked at the wand attached to the link and you're right! It's really fancy and makes me "drool!" I, too, couldn't wait to acquire :tree: my wand, but I found it in my Australian Pine forest on my property. The tree spirit gave the branch to me and I created and consecrated it myself. My wand is very special to me, but not at all "fancy."

I do like the one you're looking at though and if it's calling you, go for it!

I hope they would take good care with the shipping, but you never know. The best of luck to you!

Love & Light,

Sharon :tree:

Thanks Sharon!

I knew that the wand seems fancy not only to me :miss pink:

Anywway, is the last tool I need to find and you're right. I just need to be sure of what I want and not caring too much about correspondences. :yellow heart:

Really? If you would be willing to post some pictures of his work that would be great. Does he work with wood for a living or is it just a hobby?
