Ingredients:
1 large aloe vera leaf
Tea Tree Oil
Vitamin E Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Knife/Cutting board (or Plate)
Mortar/Pestle
Flour Sifter or cheese cloth

Step 1:
Cut the aloe vera into as tiny of pieces as you can and scrape them into the mortar and pestle. Use a spoon to scrape so you can get all the good gooey insides that came out as you cut.

Step 2: Add about 1-2 TBS Vitamin E oil (or 2 large Vit. E capsules), 1 TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil and 7 drops of Tea Tree Oil. Blend like crazy! This process takes a while because the outer part of the plant doesn't like to grind up very well, but it too has good healing properties, and, as witches, we like to use ALL the plant if possible. Want not, waste not! This step can also be done in a food processor (if you are a modern kitchen witch! LOL!). Mine was too big to properly grind things up, which is why I did it by hand.

Step 3:
Strain the concoction through a flour sifter or cheese cloth to get out all the clumps that are still too big. I used a flour sifter and pushed it through with my pestle. Again, this is tedious.

When you are finished, it should look like you have a giant, menthol smelling snot ball! LOL! (look bad, heal good!). Put this in a container and keep refrigerated. I'm not sure how long it will keep as this is my first batch. The recipe above only makes a very small amount, and they are only guidelines for making this. So, take the ingredients and make your own in bigger batches in whatever quantities feel right to you.

FYI: For very bad sunburns, I recommend soaking the burn with a soft cheese cloth soaked in cold whole milk for about 20 minutes before applying. Also, because of the Tea Tree Oil, it may sting a little at first, but with diligent application, you should be feeling better in no time!

Enjoy, and happy summer! (this was the closest smiley I could get to a sunburn! LOL!)

Just wanted to let everyone know that when I woke up this morning, my sunburn has been reduced by 50-60%. It no longer hurts, but it is a little itchy.

You shouldn't sleep with this stuff on. Wipe it off gently with a very soft cloth, or take a shower before bed. Otherwise, you'll end up very itchy (especially those with sensitive skin.)

I'm a fair skinned red head too! My only complaint is that I'm a little itchy where I got sun burnt today. I don't know if that's because I'm healing or because of the concoction. Either way, it's a very tolerable itch.

I would try leaving out the olive oil as oil is very bad for a sunburn because it actually helps hold in some of the heat from the burn.

Aloe vera and tea tree oil as well as vitamin E are very good for a sunburn you may even try adding in a bit of lavender to the mix because its very soothing on a sunburn.
