THE TAROT OF THE WITCHES By Fergus Hall
There's no much info to be honest on this chosen deck, so i will write up my findings and apologise for the shortness in advance. The Tarot of the Witches is a funny looking deck, dream like and surreal. The human figures are drawn with large arms, big heads, and long black stranded hair but with the smallest legs possible giving them their oil painting look about them. In fact they are based on the oil paintings done by the artist Fergus Hall. The cards have a common theme with animal familiars in them, including a striped cat and a black bird. The colours are super vivid with SWORDS=RED, CUPS=BLUE, COINS=GREEN, BATONS=BROWN.

I find it intriguing that Fergus Hall's life some what mirrors the artist Pamela Colman Smith the artist of the Waite/Smith deck. Both have designed a tarot deck, and both were religious Pamela was Catholic and Fergus a Buddhist, and they have both almost disappeared from the art scene. Both have also wrote a children's book, Anancy stories for children by Pamela, Groundsel by Fergus. They too me have similar artistic and mystical milestones.
There is very little info on the artist Fergus Hall so here goes, A Scottish born artist born in Paisley. He has exhibited at the Portal gallery in London. He is best known for this Tarot deck that was created for the James Bond movie LIVE AND LET DIE. His paintings have been published on 2 LP sleeves for KING CRIMSON, these paintings were bought by Robert Fripp from the gallery in the 1970's. During the 70's whilst working on the deck for the film he was also working as a teacher at ST Aelreds Junior High in Glenburn Paisley. From the late 70's he worked as an art teacher at Trinity High School, Renfew. And in 1982 his children's book was published by Jonathan Cape and this won the best picture book prize in Japan. Fergus Hall is also an accomplished lute and classical guitar player, although i'm not sure if anyone wanted to know that much about him! lol
There are many many tarot readers who are not impressed with this deck, calling it everything from ugly to ridiculous, but there are some (like me) that love the colourful and surrealistic design. At the time of the movie the original deck came with the 007 logo on the back on each card and a special James Bond box, now you only seem to find THE WITCHES TAROT which is still available without the logo and special box, although this is confusing as i own THE TAROT OF THE WITCHES but it does not have the logo or special box, which it should have if carrying the name of above and not THE WITCHES TAROT.
Some random trivia on the deck. The tarot of the witches deck can also be seen in the x-files season 3 episode 4 " BRUCKMANS FINAL RESPONSE"
STUART R KAPLAN
Kaplan started to import the 1968 Waite/Smith deck to the US, and he was a cards collector that had his own museum. He is a tarot book author and president of US GAMES. His TAROT ENCYCLOPAEDIA 1-2-3 became the most influential books for tarot history, as it manifested a platform for more detailed discussions, for tarot readers, and he opened up the history and interest of theme's which before Kaplan had never been discussed out of secret societies.

Not sure what was wanted for this research project, as i was a litte confused, so i thought that any research that would help me connect to the Tree of Life and the Sephiroth would be a good start anyway even if i was on the wrong path. Hope it's ok, here's part one

Let me kick this off with .... I love this research project. I've had this deck for some time now and
just really never got around to using it.
So let's give this a whirle. I chose my Mystic Faerie Tarot deck which was created by Barbara Moore
and illustrated by Linda Ravenscroft.
Barbara Moore is a Certified Tarot Reader with the American Tarot Association and has spoken
in many Tarot conferences in the USA. She has publications in Llyewellyn & New Worlds of Mind and Spirit magazine.
She's studied under Mary K. Greer & Rachel Pollack and has taught Tarot to many. She wrote The
Gilded Tarot which is part of Ciro Marchetti's best-selling Gilded Tarot kit, & What Tarot
Can do for You both was published by Llewellyn.
The self taught Linda Ravenscroft is a British artist who's work can be seen all over the world. Her symbolism in this
deck beautiful orbs, and rose thorns for Swords, mer people for Cups,sticks & crystal for Wands, faeries that day dream
with pentacles arounds them for the Pentacles. All of the cards are truly dazzling and have a soft water
colour look.
I casted a circle, perfomed the air with Frankincense and a Inner Peace oil and asked my question...
"Where am I going in life with the kids & my love Alan ??? after I shuffled the cards and
picked out 3, reading them left to right, left being my past, middle where Im at this moment
and right being what I wish to be in the future.
Card 1: Ace of Wands: Starts out with...Once upon a time...tells how a faerie clan gathers
to hear the elders telling stories of strange sights and faraway lands. The younger faeries went out on their
own to see the world.They were so happy and made a wand from oak and a red crystal
to show their focus,determination and passion. They added 2 griffin feathers to bring wisdom
& fortune. As the story goes, now they sit and tell of their own grad tales and call the sitting
area the "Place of Beginnings"
MESSAGE: There's a need for a new beginning, make a space either physical or mental to create
a plan. Do you have the strength, detemination and passion neecessary ? Do you have the wisdom
& resources necessary ? Do you have a clear piture of your goal?
Card 2: 7 of Swords:Tells of a faerie Queen who sees a blue rose which is dying, she quickly s
steps into it and pours a faerie magick dust over it to save it. The blue rose comes back to
life fastly and grows around her and intertwines with her.
MESSAGE: Even wise people make mistakes. There is danger in haste. Be careful when trying to change a situation.
You may end a problem but create a new one.Take time to think before you act.
Card 3: King of Cups: He is a compassionate & caring leader. Cares more about ones happiness
rather then their efficiency. His love for beauty & his frustrated artistic desires may sometimes distract
him from the tast at hand.
My conclusion is.....We're looking for the great adventure of life, our own Place of Beginnings
but we need to take care as to not jump into anything too fast.We should take our time
to think before we act. And that Alan is a loving King but a dreamer LOL....and can be
