Moon Phase Correspondences

Maiden Moon ~ First Quarter

Begins at the New Moon when the Sun and Moon are Conjunct
Magics of increase are strongest worked in this phase.
Associated with new beginnings, new projects that require growth and the growth of ideas.
Plant Sow and Harvest above ground crops, those that produce seed outside of the fruit, flowers and annuals.

Mother Moon ~ Second Quarter

Begins when the Sun and Moon are at right angles.
Magics of growth, accomplishment, success and completion are strongest worked in this phase.
Associtated with the growth and planning of finer details of projects that are already under way.
Plant, sow and harvest above ground crops that produce seed inside the fruit.

Matron Moon ~ Third Quarter

Begins at the Full Moon when the Sun and Moon are opposite.
Magics of decrease are strongest worked at this time.
Associated with the maturity and fruition of goals and projects.
Plant, sow and harvest below ground crops, bulbs, root crops and perennials.

Crone Moon ~ Fourth Quarter

Begins when the Sun and Moon are again at a right angle.
Divination and meditation are strong at this time.
Associated with a time for withdrawing to reorganize projects and thoughts, reflect and recouperate to gain strength to begin anew.
Best for pulling weeds, spreading compost to fertilize and pruning.

Blue Moon

The second Full Moon in one calendar month.
Associated with miracles, luck and rare occasions.

Blood Moon

A Full Moon that appears red or rust colored.
Associated with adding power to spellwork.

Moon Void of Course
[list][*]The Moon as it is passing from one Zodiac sign to the next.
[*]Associated with non movement. Spellwork, divinations, meditation, sowing, planting and harvesting can wait until the Moon has passed into the next sign.
