We all hate to think of them, but with school age children and the weather they are a concern in some parts of the world. Here is an idea that works wonderfully. In abottle of Childrens shampoo put 20 drops of Tea Tree oil and 30 drops of Eucalyptis. These should be essentila oils not perfumes or anything else that is cut. It has worked for us for years. Not a sim=ngle buggy. Not even when there was an "epideminc" of them in my dauighters school. I don't know how it works for treating them but as a preventative it is great.

Really good advice. I am a big supporter of using both of these oils for treating nits and such.

Just an additional tip for parents wanting to try this, make sure your kids are absolutely not inspired to ingest this (hey, most kids know better), because as little as 3.5mls of pure eucalyptus oil can be fatal if ingested.

Oh for sure, most kids definitely know better, but it has been known to happen - especially as here in Australia they market eucalyptus oil cough drops (very small quantities of oil, comparatively, are used) and so children are more likely to associate the scent of eucalyptus oil with something that can also be ingested.

Incidentally, for Australians, it is the blue-gum eucalyptus essential oil that you want to be using; rather than the lemon-scented oil or the broad-leaved peppermint eucalyptus. While all three have rather similar properties, it is the blue-gum oil (which is most popular in the US) which is suited for treating lice.

Mmm. Now I feel like walking through a eucalyptus forest.

Ok - don't totally shave their heads, but nits don't like a number 2 crop.

MM!! Just a tip along with Ravenari.......dont get the shampoo in kids eyes either......it burns!! This shampoo DOES work for prevention, my daughter had BUGGIES and the rest of us never got them!! It doesnt work AFTER you get the bugs however it is a great prevention shampoo.
It is easy to mix into kids shampoo ( we use watermelon, it covers the 'medicine' smell) just use a wire whisk.

Many Blessings if you HAVE TO read this, have patience and now that The BUGGIES will go away if you stay on top of it  .

Blessings
