Animal communication is becoming quite popular. Last spring I had an animal communicator work with my dog and the things I was told were 'right on' and also what she told me my dog 'predicted' also came true.
Since then I've taken a course in animal communication which is a fancy term for talking telepathically with animals. It's a matter of being in tune with the animal, relaxing and letting the messages flow in. At first you might think you're making up what you're getting but as you practice more it does become easier.
Has anyone else tried to telepathically communicate with their pet or other animal?

Yes, I have thought I've gotten some messages from my pets but been unsure. I have gotten messages from pets and people that have crossed over very clearly; shouldn't it be the same thing?
I used to watch the pet psychic (she looks like a cat, doesn't she?) all the time. I have some questions I'd like to ask of the cat. Are there any books on this topic?

Actually, this is something I've always been really intrigued by. I'm glad you started the topic.
In one respect, I think we do this all the time subconsciously. Some animals really tune into our thoughts and feelings.
I know you've all heard me talk about Jack and his nasty disposition, but you let me have a bad day emotionally and he's always the first to notice and respond.
I once read that you should never look a cat straight in the eyes when standing up above them, and even at eye level, you shouldn't have a stare down with them unless you're trying to establish dominance.
Jack is one of those cats who makes constant eye contact with me, and when he does, you can literally feel the energy passing between us. It's hard to explain, but at that moment, I know exactly what he's thinking, and I'm pretty sure he knows exactly what I am thinking. He's very open to it, and doesn't push me 'out' when it happens. I can feel his receptiveness, and have no doubt that if I wanted to make him my familiar, he would happily comply.
I'd love to hear more about your course, Briganta!

Katherined - there are two books by Penelope Smith - "When Animals Speak" and "Animal Talk - Interspecies Telepathic Communication". I haven't read the first one but I'm in the middle of the second one. It's easy to read and follow her directions and is very interesting and helpful, at least I found it to be. These books were recommended by the facilitator of the course I took who also knows the author.
Morgane - the course was held over two days and was fairly intensive. We started out by pairing up with a partner and doing telepathy exercises, which was quite interesting in itself. The first exercise was to picture a favourite room in your house and 'send' it to your partner. We did a lot more exercises like throughout the first day. Then finally we used photographs of our pets and tried to receive messages from them that way. Time and again it was stressed that you need to be ready, receptive, mentally quite but also alert to make it happen. Being calm and just let the thoughts, pictures, feelings, impressions and/or verbal messages, even sounds come through.
The biggest hurdle at first, and I think everyone in the class went through this, was to think you are just making things up - you have to trust that what you're receiving are messages. A couple of times I totally pulled a blank and apparantly that happens a lot, too, probably from trying too hard and trying to push it.
The second we worked with the lady's cats and we all got something that was relative she said so that gave everyone a boost of confidence. We did a very interesting visualization/meditation in the afternoon, she asked us to visualize being out in the forest or countryside and then wait for an animal to come to us - mine was an awesome wolf and I got a few messages from him.
There is a second course that teaches you to communicate with animals that have passed on which is coming in the spring. I think I'm going to take that one, too, although I have seen some of my pets and horses after they have passed, it seems like they come to tell me that they are OK.
You sound like you would be good at it Morgane, you already have a special connection with Jack.

I will have to look for those books! I find it all very interesting. I would have loved to take the class.
Ted Andrews "Animal Speak" is one of my favourite all time books, I just can't get enough of things like that. The workbook that goes with it is great, also.

I'll be ordering the books as well. I have an issue with my cat. Well she came to be our cat is an interesting story. She was a wild one that the neighbor began feeding. They named her Beauty and she had a litter of kittens, well a couple of weeks later all of the kittens dissapeared, probably taken by a predator. She got pregnant again and this time the neighbor kept her and her litter indoors until the kittens were old enough to be adopted out. They kept 2 of the kittens and had all of them fixed including Beauty. Well, Beauty became jealous or something and for some reason wanted nothing to do with the kittens or that household. She started coming to my house and presenting me with her hunting finds.
The neighbors gave her to my son; they told him that she is a present on his birthday, but she had already started sleeping on a patio chair and I was giving her food. They moved away a couple months later and took one of the kittens with them. On the day of the move they were very distraught that they could not find the other one. He comes around here and eats some of Beautys food, but won't let me come near him. Beauty doesn't interact with him at all, but she doesn't stop him from eating her food. There are coyotes and other predators around here, but it seems that she has adopted herself to avoid them.
We are moving soon. I'd like to take Beauty with us, there are coyotes and predators everywhere in southern California though. I don't know if it's right to take her away from here and her son and where she feels comfortable. I'm pretty sure that the new neighbors would feed her if she doesn't want to go with us or if it's not the right thing to do. I need to find out how she feels about it...

Katherineid,
You can ask your cat by forming your question in a picture format. Focus on a picture that basically says all that you want to say, attach the feelings with it and project/send it to your cat. I was taught to speak to animals in pictures. From what I have been told its easier to communicate with animals through that sort of energy as they interpret it easier than with words. Its like talking to someone who speaks just Spanish or Italian in English and asking them where the bathroom is.. They don't understand you but if you show them a picture of a bathroom they understand. lol

Yes, using pictures is one way to talk to the animals and Beauty may respond in kind. You may also just pick up a feeling, thought or may even get words. Be open, don't expect just one particular form of communication because you may miss your message that was sent in another form.

Yes, though I don't write about it much, because I'm about 50% skeptic / 50% believer.
I used to do it a lot more than I do it now, to the point where I would have friends ask me to talk to their pets, and friends of friends do the same.
It doesn't help that I've been to a few animal communication / telepathy sites, and it looks more like a glorification of anthropormophism going on, rather than anything else.

I dunno, could it be anthropomorphism, I'm not sure.
I used to call my male German Shepherd to me via telepathy. I did it many times so I know that was telepathy. When we had the horses I was always acutely aware of how they were feeling and if something was wrong even if I couldn't put my finger on it, but I suppose that was empathy. I was always aware of their moods and what they wanted, too.
What amazed me with the reading I had done last spring was that she told me that Terra was telling her that we wouldn't be able to go to Salem for Samhain. I hadn't mentioned this planned trip to the lady. We had already booked the hotel (you have to book before March otherwise there are no rooms to be found, lol) and it turned out that my daughter had a heart problem develop two days before we were supposed to leave. I was kind of gob-smacked!
No matter what it is, it intrigues me. I did notice that after I took the course Terra seemed closer to me somehow and she conveys what she is needing or wanting more clearly - or is it me that is now more aware??

Well, once you experience something a door opens a bit more, in my opinion. You have extra information to become more aware with than before the experience, so yes, I'd say you're more aware now with your dog.
As for me, I'm still a skeptic, lol. I'm sure some people could do it, but not as a universal thing.
It's easier to call them out loud than via brainwaves anyway.

I often talk to crow on a regular basis. Sometimes he conveys a message from spirit from me when I'm listening. I also talk to magpies but erm got a hmph in response to that so never tried talking to one again LOL As for cats, yes have tried to communicate with cats before....although the black cat that came avisiting before said that they were lonely, which was presumably why they were visiting.

I was fortunately and unfortunately graced with this gift around the age of 4 years old. I think this is why I had few friends in school. I would tell them about talking to my cat and dog. They must have thought I was crazy, especially since I grew up in a very Christian (mostly southern baptist) town, where that stuff just wasn't even possible, let alone considered 'witchcraft'. It was just impossible!
Animal seem drawn to me, which I love. I have become a feline behaviorist and use my ability (secretly) to really find out what's going on. I haven't had a dissatisfied client yet! LOL!
I've also helped quite a few animals spirits cross over. It's very rewarding. Sometimes, if they pass traumatically, they will come in bed with me and just lay next to me for a while. If I'm heavily sleeping, I sometimes don't realize right away that it's a spirit animal and think it's just one of my cats! LOL!
I love talking to animals!

Oh, I just finished reading everyone else's responses. Seems like most of you are skeptical. I guess you must think I'm weird too! Oh well! LOL!
