What about Gods for modern technology?

-Internet God
-genetic engineering God
- nano technology God
- UFO God
- Quantum physics God
- God of robots
- God of space travel
- black hole God [and no, there is no dirty humour or pun intended]
- exogenesis God [being born in a capsule etc and not in a womb]

To some extent I am trying to have a laugh. But I am also trying to be a bit serious. It is a sea change in human consciousness - the natural to the post-human to put it in brevity. One approach could be this:

Pluto: was deity of underworld and underground minerals

Now let's have a 21st century Pluto: rules the new underworld - that could be the vast reaches of space that are deadly and desolate [magnetic areas around Jupiter, black holes etc].

Another approach is to have entirely new deities. Let's take UFOs.

We could have a deity called skycrafte [silly I know] and let him/her it rule UFOs. Its totem animal could be one of these big-headed aliens that people claim to be abducted by.

Another element to this that's worth a look into, is that in the future AI technology will be ale to produce totally realistic "deities". Perhaps every child will be assigned one.

Have you read American Gods by Neil Gaiman? It is one of my favourite books and though it's fiction it deals with the idea of if enough people believe in and 'worship' it then it exists sort of thing, though the book does also contain may of the traditional Gods and Goddess too. If that is the case then Gods of technology would not be that far flung an idea

I would need to go back and look, but in the Encyclopedia of Spirits, I believe there is mention of Gods of technology. It's a big book, so I haven't looked into it, but maybe when I get around to it, I can list a few here.

The world is changing and everyone has to keep up somehow, maybe even the Gods!
