I have always wanted an altar that was good. I am a bit on the poor side though. I am suppose to be a Priestess too though. I have always wished for a golden pentagram necklace, but unfortunately, it is impossible. Huh. I am poor and if I left my mom and moved out, she would more than likely land in a shelter and die alone. And who is to blame for my mom not being able to have a job at 38? My aunt. She used my mom's check and took out more than what was in her account.....It is on her record so, if she can't get a job at McDonald's, she can't get one anywhere. What kind of spell can I do to get a job for sure?

You don't need an altar to do a spell, all you need is a candle. There are also ways to find or make the things for an altar.

An altar doesn't have to cost money. It could be a tree stump outside with some leaves or flowers that you like. You can decorate it with rocks or pine cones or twigs. Whatever you want. Sometimes the best ones are homemade and from nature.

I agree with Athena. Anything can be an altar if you decide that is its purpose. I have no money for an altar and I also have to hide my Craft, so when I do rituals, I usually just center a candle on the ground and work around it. The space immediately surrounding the candle serves as my altar.

I don't have alter either as of yet and I have to hide my craft items as well, you can use a table a trunk, any type of flat surface, or even the floor inside, outside you can use the ground, a large rock, or a tree stump as suggested. The main thing is, it Is your alter if you create it!

When I was young, my first alter was a simple shoe box that had some homemade choice items in it. It was all I needed and served its purpose well. I would recommend something similar for your situation. Keep in mind most of what you need can be homemade with a little know how. Hope this helps

Well, I do have a tree stump on my front porch for one thing. And I understand the situation of having to hide yourself from family. My mom has taken to my Wiccan ways thankfully though. I really doubt the rest of my family would though. Thank you for the ideas! I am working with a broken end table for the moment, and seems to be working out.

My altar is just a cheap locker shelf and a scarf draped over it to make it look a little nicer. I would of just used the floor but the draft in my house kept blowing out my candles

Some lovely ideas for an alter.
This may or may not be what you're hoping for... I've never had an alter... I do all mine through meditation and have some beautiful things that I work with regularly. The only item i use from this world are candles.
This way you can pick/design exactly what you need.
