Okay, we all like candies and cookies and finger foods, doesn't really matter what the reason!

I thought it would be fun to start a thread with some good recipes for snack foods...

I made something great today.

Chocolate Oreo Bark

1 pkg Bakers Semi Sweet Chocolate (8 squares)
1 pkg Bakers White Chocolate (6 squares)
2 TBS creamy peanut butter
10 Oreo cookies, crushed
1 cup almond slivers

In two separate bowls, melt dark chocolate and white chocolate in microwave, or if you don't like microwaves, use a double boiler.

Stir the peanut butter into the melted white chocolate, then put half the crushed oreos and half the almond slivers in each bowl of chocolate, mix well.

Drop by spoonfulls onto waxed paper on a cookie sheet. Alternate a spoon of dark chocolate and a spoon of white chocolate, putting them fairly close together. Take a knife and swirl it all together and spread it out a bit, making it about 1/4 inch thick.

Cool and break into pieces...

It's yummy...Very addictive...

Oreo Balls

My daughter gave me this recipe, she says they are amazing and very simple to make. (We don't have almond bark here in Ontario - or not that I've been able to find, anyway - so mine don't look as pretty as hers, but taste good, just the same! All I could find here was white chocolate almond bark that really has almonds in it at the Bulk Barn. My balls turned into million dollar balls! LOL)

All you need is:

1 pkg oreo cookies, crushed as fine as you can get them
1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
1 pkg vanilla almond bark

Mix crushed cookies and cream cheese together well. (I used one of those gadgets you use to cut shortening into flour, but you can use a potato masher, as well.)

Form mixture into balls about the size of a quarter, place on wax paper, and chill for one hour.

Melt vanilla almond bark in microwave according to package directions. Dip balls in melted bark and allow to cool and harden.

Peanut Butter Fudge

2 cups packed brown sugar
2 cups of white sugar
4 TBS butter or margarine
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 cup walnut pieces or pecan pieces (optional)

Butter 11 x 9 pan well, or line it with wax paper.

In a saucepan, combine both sugars, butter or margarine, and milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly and bring to a boil. Boil and stir non stop for 5 minutes - no more or no less - exactly 5 minutes.

Remove from heat, and add peanut butter, vanilla and marshmallows and nuts, stirring until marshmallows melt. Pour into prepared pan and cool before cutting into squares. If you can sit it outside somewhere to cool or put it in the fridge it will cool much faster. It won't take it anytime to set up, and it's the best I've ever eaten.

This is great for cold winter evenings, and it makes a huge amount so you can actually give it for gifts!

Spice Tea

All ingredients are powdered, and it makes really nice simple inexpensive gifts to put some in a little decorative container to give as a gift...I usually do this and attach a recipe card to the jar!

1 lb 2 oz Tang
1 cup sugar
12 oz lemonade mix
1 1/2 cups instant tea
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves

Mix well, and put in airtight container(s).

I add 2 tsp to a cup of hot water, but you might adjust this to suit your own taste.
