My ankle and hip keep causing me to be in pain. its odd it could go most of the day but then all of the sudden slam hard into me any advice and help would be appreciated.

If you have the opportunity I would definitely get a second opinion for that if it keeps bothering you. Doctors are human, too, and make mistakes. Did your doctor run any tests for you or take any x-rays/MRI's? It could be a connective tissue issue going on. *keep in mind, me = not a nurse, but get a professional on it*. My brother in law is currently awaiting his MRI results for his hip/knee problems.

In the mean time take it easy. Are there any painkillers that help? I don't know how you feel about things like Ibuprofen--hubby hates pain killers. If anyone knows any teas or anything else that helps pain I would like to know, too, for when my stupid knee starts bothering me.

h i will try the secondary oppinion. He just looked at them and felt the areas that hurt and said they were fine. showers seem to help *i mean hot ones* and it started rather quickly and pain pills dont help *stupid chemical killers*

Yeeeaaaah. My doctor did the same thing with my knee when I injured my meniscus back in July. She tossed me some pills and said she didn't want to do an x-ray right away and come back in a week or two if it's getting worse. Well, fast-forward to March and it still tweaks. I didn't go back because it didn't seem worth the effort to me if it is going to heal *if it won't ever heal and needs surgery that would be a different story* and it does seem like it's healing, but very very VERY slowly. Arrgh.

Soaking in hot water might be a good idea, like you do with the shower. I should do that more often with my knee. Besides, it's an excuse to get a hot bath.

I have been through the same thing with my back, I had a doctor for nine years and I kept telling him that my back and legs hurt all of the time, that I stayed tired all of the time and that I felt like I was losing more hair than what I should, everytime he would say "well, when they start hurting again come back and see me" This continued until Finally I went to a new doctor. This doctor of course drew new patient lab work that evenening and called to inform me that something was off and sent me for an ultrasound of my kidneys.

The results were that I have been diagnosed with CRF (Chronic Renal Failure) or long term kidney failure, they don't know what caused it, but I only have 50% use of my kidneys now and they have shrunk in size considerably.

Anyway, I still have the back pain that I have always had, not kidney related, I know this, I think it is from an old back injury but now it is involving the nerves. The new doctor keeps putting off and MRI because of my kidneys, but something is going to have to be done, even if I have to go to yet a new doctor to have it done because I am tired of their solution being a Decadron shot and a Medrol Dose Pack everytime!!

Definitely, Definitely get a second opinon!!!!

Yeah, it kinda stinks pretty big especially when I knew something was going on and no one would really listen! But hey, at least I found it before it was a lot worse than it is! Right now as long as I do as I am told I can maintain my kidney function at this level without it worsening. The good thing is unlike Acute Kidney Failure, it takes much longer for the Kidneys to decline in Chronic Renal Failure so changes don't happen overnight!

It's all Good....wasn't trying to whine about it, just wanted Shadowprinceraven to know that as a friend and an RN he should definitely get a second opinion, we are the only ones who know when something isn't going right in our bodies!

Definitely second opinion. I have a.coworker that did.something to his back and.they didn't want to.look at it because they thought he just wanted pills because he's only 24. He just wants to not be in pain!

You know, I never even thought of that. I used to have sciatic nerve pain that would cause my leg to give out and land me on my butt. It used to strike like a lightning bolt. Thankfully that's gone now and I'm in much better shape all around there.

both my ankles and my right hip and fourth toe on right foot hurt and it seems odd it will hit me sharp and hard then continue for a few minutes then stop again. It can stay fine for hours then start again for an hour.
