Merry me to you all! There are alot of members now on Magicka, and i have spoken to a few of you briefly within the new chat room!
With more and more people joining i have realised there alot of younger one starting this new craft! Merry Meet to you all!
What concerns me is your reasons for choosing this craft?!
I truely do not want to affend ANY body here but must voice my concern....
Being a Wiccan is being part of a Religion.... there are aolot of parts to the Religion which yes includes spells as one part....
Please Please do not just enter the world of becoming a wiccan if this is your only reason for joining, The Religion is not just about spells!!! it is about alot of things including knowing your self within and out, getting to know your spiritual guides, gods and goddess's which guide you, and alot more.
A warning .... not be doing spells untill you have done your reseach, there is more to being a wiccan than just doing the spells. I personally believe that spells are the last thing on the list of being a true Wiccan.... practice meditating, this is a long and hard thing to grasp but is the first thing you should be concentrating on, research as much as you can as the more knowledge behind the craft you have the better. Look up different gods untill you feel drawn to one and the same with goddess's.
But i do so urge PLEASE dont just jump in head first with doing spells as if you dont know and understand what you are doing it can all go horribly wrong!
Im sure there are many others out there that feel the same as myself, i do hope u support what ive said.

i totally agree with white lillie. Unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing with a spell, too much can go wrong, for you and others.you just need patience.

There are very few things that one can do without being taught and to be taught and to learn a person must be ready, age wise and mind wise to accept the teaching and to accept the responsibility that knowledge brings.
We don't hand a six year old the keys to a car. Not only are they not physically capable of handling a car, they do not have the ability to assess situations, make snap judgements, respond to unexpected happenings, anticipate things that could go wrong. Even when, as teenagers, they complete a driving course and are out on the road, we worry. They have been given the fundamentals and have had some practice but they are still very much new to driving and we worry that some circumstance beyond their ability will arise and have terrible consequences. The more they drive the more their skill develops, their confidence grows and we begin to relax, knowing that they are more capable and thus we extend the distance they can drive or the time they can spend out.
To learn and be at home with a pagan path is a long process. I agree, spells are one of the least of the process. The last time I used a spell was four years ago. A spell cannot just be thrown out into creation. For instance, one can cast a beautifully orchestrated spell designed to help him find a job. If, after the spell, he sits in front of the television waiting for the phone to ring, that was one wasted spell. If, on the other hand, he gets dressed, grabs the newspaper and goes out searching for the job that spell has a much greater chance of fulfillment. Intent, will, purpose and action are elements of spells and I believe intent is the most important of those. Is a spell necessary, can you achieve your goal without one? A spell will not find love, a job, banish illness, give a rash to your algebra teacher or put money in your pocket. There is no power there.
The power, if it can be called that, will be found in your kinship with creation, your realization that you are part of that, that it embraces you as you embrace it. The power is when you find that you resonate to what is going on around you, when you grow toward yourself and the spirit, when you find delight in yourself and your work, when the sight of a flock of birds or the sound of the wind in a tree brings instant gratitude to the one who gifted you with them.
This takes time. It is something that you grow into, that you learn, that you practice and it is in and of itself the reward.
Just my opinion of course.

I am 40ish and I know that I have a lot to learn and think about before I try to cast a spell. I need to learn a few more things about myself first. (My be a lot more things).

I am also going to agree with what everyone here has said. hat the public has made us Wiccans seem and what we do is not all glamour. This is very hard work and it is a daily devotion to one's God and/or Goddess. This is not something to be taken lightly.
No matter what "patience is a virtue." I believe this saying is saying it very well. We all know as teenagers this is something that is hard as they are always on the go. Atleast I was back in the day. I am still taking my time and learning and growing everyday. I don't do spells or anything like that. These are meant to be for something extremely meaningful. Not to be played around with. Kinda like fire.
I am new to the path at my ripe middle age and I am in no hurry. I want my life on this path to be very fulfilling and spiritualy known. I learn and research as much as I can. I daily devote myself each day to help myself and my family. Then I come here and help and support whenever I can. This is done by everyone else here also.
So please all you you young ones please take heed and don't be hasty.
Brightest Blessings!
*note: these responses are in no way to offend anyone. As elders to you we are just giving advice to follow. This will in turn help you grow on your path.

I agree with everyone. i have been studing wicca for about 8 years now, though i just started actually practicing. i have been studying everynight now for a few months, and have not yet cast a spell. i feel there is still waaayyy too much stuff for me to learn to start trying to mess with natures course yet lol. but i do agree anytime i mention to anyone that i study wicca, that is always the first thing they ask about, even my mom asked me to do a love spell for her lol. i tried to explain, that wicca is not about making someone fall in love with you, but she didnt believe me lol.

Again I agree with all of the above - there is no rush, RELAX and enjoy your journey.
Meditate, scry, research and commune with nature - this is where TRUE MAGICK lies.
Destination does not a journey make - savour each step.
Brightest Blessings to you all, Please remember if you have ANY questions at all you can PM any of the moderators (thats what we're here for) Ellovium xx

Hi Lyric,
I've not 'met' you before in the forum but what you wrote here is a really lovely expression of your feelings.
Although I've been studying for a few years I consider myself very new to Wicca and, to be honest, I don't think about spells very often. I have never cast a spell. My heart telling me I'm not ready.

Hi,
I'm 24 and incredibly new to wicca, only really been doing any serious reading for the past couple of weeks, although I've had an interest for years.
I just want to say that I wholeheartedly agree with what everyone has said and I was thinking about this just this morning. I don't feel anywhere near ready to perform any spells. Of course I'm curious but I know that when I feel ready and REALLY understand what I'm doing and why I'll know. Right now I'm having a hard enough time of meditating, I dread to think what I'd end up doing if I tried anything else Lol.
The magick and the spells weren't the reason I decided to start studying Wicca anyway. It was the desire for a more spiritual side to myself, to discover if I have one at all, I guess, as I think it's so easy to go through life blinkered and not seeing the whole picture.

Been studying the craft for years - and by far - I still am a 'n00b'. Knowledge is power - and the more I learn - the more I learn I have more to learn.
