Sun in natal chart represents a father of a person, and a husband,or if it is a male chart, represent himself after he married and became a father.
It can also be your boss and generally all authorities and your connection with them, which depends on position of the planet in house and in sign, and also aspects with another planets in chart.

I have to disagree with you slightly there Princgora.
The Sun represents the most father like figure. It can be your father, step-father, adoptive father etc. It usually only represents this one father authoritive figure. Plus, it doesn't matter whether it's a males chart or a females chart - the Sun represents yourself - ie Sun sign.

I again agree about father figure, but disagree about the rest.
It is a big difference if it is a male of female chart, they have same meanings in general, but in female chart there is one more, posible husband.
And off course,it is a sun sign and a lot of things beside, for example aristocracy, holidays, heart in human body, gold, vitamins, eyes and ability to see, health, position in society, renome, stability, the king,celebrations,etc....

I agree with you Princgora. Just like a King of Wands in a tarot reading can suggest the presence of a male in a reading, so too can the Sun come to represent other diverse facets as you move from gender to gender.
You have a very eloquent way of describing how you see the symbolism of the planets,
