To my children if I have any, to my friends children if I don't.
Do you bless your Bos before writing in it?

Sometimes.
What is the most memorable spell/ritual you have done? It has to be one that you yourself wrote and done.
Brightest Blessings!

I wrote and carried out a Full Moon ritual bath which I love that's very simple but beautiful to me.
Are you working on a specific section at the moment?

I'm working on two sections....
I'm taking pictures of my tools to include in my book.
But, I'm writing an entry on creating a sacred space... it is an essay type of entry about the origins of the various components I utilize to define an area for magickal use.
What is the favorite thing you’ve included (not written) with an entry?

When I did my intention ritual way back when, I accidently spilled wax from the intention candle onto my BOS. It fell on the ritual page in a little space and looks like I did it on purpose! It just turned out so perfectly and felt so right that I decided to leave it there.
How do you sort information in your BOS - i.e. in categories, alphabetically, chronologically, or somehow else?

Mine is dedicated to me. After all - it's about my experiences and what information and spells I wish to keep.
Would you let anyone else read your BOS? If so, who, why and when.

From what everyone has written here, I belive that there is a common thread.
It doesn't matter if you write your BOS on clay tablets, it's what you write, not where you write it.
I have a BOS, and it's creamy white pages remain as pristine as the day I got it. Time after time I thought about writing in the book, but what I was thinking seemed insignificant when I looked at that beautiful book. I have been taking notes on a legal pad. Well, guess what? That legal pad, not the pretty book, is my BOS and am I ever feeling silly. I made the book more important than the words.
Smile, and everyone will wonder what you've been up to,
Emily

I will let my son read my BOS when he is old enough and pass down to him. Whether he so chooses to continue to follow in this path or not. But for right now, no one has read my BOS. Not even my hubby . If he wants to I would though. I would have to do something special for tht, but that has not happened so I do not worry.
How many color correspondances; with their meanings, do you have?
Brightest Blessings!

I stick to the 7 rainbow/chakra colors Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. Then I have White and Black... I feel most colors fall under some variation of these... Pink is just Red with white added, so it is 'passion(red) and white(spirituality) -- it is romantic love'. I also have a section for metals, so I don't include gold and silver under colors like some do.
Is your BOS your journal, or is it a record of your learning and actual magickal practices? (Just to note -- these are seperate things for me.)

It is a record of the Sabbats, Esbas, rituals, spells and magickal practices that I follow only. A journal is something separate for me also.
Do you use different coloured ink for different sections of your BOS?

I've used different color ink with sections on the elements, like blue for Water, green and brown for Earth, yellow for Air, and red and orange for Fire.
This comes up a lot, do you prefer writing in a bound book with fixed pages, or one which allows you to move its contents around?

One where I can move the pages around. I'm a bit of an organisation freak when it comes to this sort of stuff! I just wouldn't be happy with fixed pages. Mine is a 3-ring binder so I've got complete flexibility - it also means I don't have to dismantle the whole thing if I want to rearrange it like I would with a post bound book.
Are you consciously making your BOS as an heirloom (i.e using DML's archival qualitty tips etc) or do you just use whatever you have to hand?

I just use whatever I have around at the moment. Eventually I hope to create a BOS that I would like to pass on to the generations if they want it, but right now I am so scatter-brained in what I am learning and when because of working and being a full time college student, that I feel like I don't have the time to dedicate to making an heirloom quality BOS. Most nights I am lucky to sit back, relax, and thank the Goddess that I am alive with rituals. Taking the time to organize a beautiful and long lasting BOS will have to wait until I am done with school.
Do you prefer to have a BOS that has material that only you have written and then a different one for material inspired or written by other people?
Which type of spells/devotions/meditations do you prefer to make up on your own and which ones do you prefer to borrow from other people?

I try to write everything out myself for my BOS... I use sources only for inspiration. I have an area where I record books I've read and list internet sites that I'm very fond of == sort of an evolving bibliography. But I want this to also serve as a future reference since I plan to pass my book on -- so future generations will know where to seek inspiration also. I also have a collection of quotes that I've found meaningful.
I right spells based on need. I will research the need and meditate upon it -- find sources of inspiration (from this world and the others) -- then I write my own spell/rite for that need.
Is artistic embellishment important in you Book of Shadows or is its focus on the text and with as few diagram as needed?
Blessed Be, DML
