Hey all! I'm curious what's in everyone's book of shadows. I have two one that's an index of herbs/gemstones/etc and another that I'm just starting for more personal things. I don't exactly know what to put in it though since I rarely cast spells. Any ideas?

If you're Wiccan or a Witch your rituals for the Sabbats would be important to have in your BoS. That's one of the first things you should be studying and learning about.
There's a topic on what to put in your BoS somwhere around here, but here's a few things:
The Sabbats; Spells; Correspondences; Rituals; Runes; Info on your deities; Prayers; daily rites, etc.

I also have two - one for reference/display, which is pretty, and one for note-taking/record-keeping, which is just a spiral bound notebook. In the pretty one, I have basically scrapbooked things which seem useful - pictures to meditate on, of the natural world and the deities I work with, some poems and prayers from various sources, and also a selection of chants (I like to sing or chant in my daily morning ritual but often need a little reminder about the words).

Thanks! I'm not new to Wicca or the Sabbats- I don't actively participate in them but I observe them. I should jot down notes on my deities, though.

My BOS has everything I need to remember, things I like to reflect back on, the Sabbats, Ruin meanings, Prayers, my totem animals, if it pertains to my workings its in there, spells, oils, just anything I might come across I dont want to forget. Its your BOS, and should reflect your workings. Blessings Elia V

I keep a number of things in my BOS. I keep rituals I have written myself. Spells I have used on more than one occasion. A list of common essential oils and their magical purposes and there aromatherapy purposes, Prayers, Blessings, common crystals and their meanings, common herbs and their magickal and medicinal uses and I am soon going to study tea leaves. I will most likely record meanings of the tea leaves in there as well. I'm always adding new things, but this is what is in there now. I started my BOS in 1999 and there is still LOTS of room in it. I only write things in it that is MY work. Not things that I get out of a book. In my opinion there is no sense in writing something in my book that I have in someone else's book. I treat it as a book that I am writing myself and when I die or no longer need it, which ever comes first, it will be a very special heirloom I can pass on to my son.
Edit: I forgot to include that my book of shadows is a black hard covered blank book that says Book of Shadows in gold writing on the front and on the binding. So the outside looks like and actual hard covered published book, but when you open it up its all my hand written work. It's very neat and very special.
