Alrighty then, I'm trying to figure out when I became crazy attached to crystals, gemstones & rocks,,,,I can't remember back too much before the age of 3 and don't work on past lives at this point,,,,but it seems to me I've ALWAYS had a rock collection of some kind or a reason to carry one around. I once told my granddaughter that stones told stories thousands of years old and hold knowledge we can't begin to understand and that they can speak if you listen carefully and my step-mother jumps in and tells me not to "get carried away with telling false tales" to our children!?! It must have made some kind of impression because 15 years later she is still collecting her own stones and my step-mother and I have agreed to disagree!

Did you have a stone collection as a child? Did you as an adult, before entering the world of paganism, have a stone collection? Do you collect crystals and gemstones now? What are some of the crystals and gemstones you work with the most and why? Do you wear them only or only display them in your home? How often do you work with crystals in your Craft?

In short, are you as crystal, gemstone & rock crazy as I am? :hehe:

In a word, YES!

I respect you telling the esoteric truth to your Granddaughter. Even in the most mundane terms (which I still find incredibly awesome) they've a story to tell. The best parts of geography at school were those dealing with the geology of the lands in question. I had quite a rock & fossil collection - and they certainly had stories to tell - far older than anything else I knew at the time - even trees! (Or so I felt at the time...)

I have a myriad Crystal Companions in my home, each a remarkable connection to the wonders of the inner Earth & the flow of Universal energies that surround us.

I often request the aid of Crystallines in my practice of Reiki. I have utilised their energies many times in healing & 'spell-crafting' - in combination with the Elements, they are truly powerful entities!

I shall drop by tomorrow & try to answer some more of those questions (it's so difficult to say which & why I utilise the most, off of the top of my head, as I have so many!) *smile* But I'd be happy to, if you're interested...

In the meantime, I wonder which you are drawn to...

Blessed Be!

I love crystals and rocks! Sometimes my little hoard strikes me silly and I picture myself like Gollum with the ring, only me with my rocks and crystals.... :hehe:

Seriously though, I consider my crystals and stones to be some of my most beautiful powerful objects. I use them in my circle to create my sacred space and as talismans and meditation tools. I have done Reiki with them on my hubby as well.

I think I will come back to this thread as well and I'll bring my collection with me!

Oh goody. goody, weeeeeeee :woot: I AM NOT ALONE :woot:
I have been doing a HUGE TON of 'retail therapy' on some awesome crystals and gemstones over the past couple of months,,,,of course I DO have the excuse that I'm stocking our online store :bug eyes:

Ohhhhh  I do get to add to my collection as I'm stocking and I get to feel the energy of all those crystals ~ YIPPEE!!! So far I've only gotten 3 or 4 of the dozen or so that I want to carry in our store. I started with some of my favorites ~ amethysts, rock crystals, citrine, blood stone, green moss agates, green avenurine, red jasper, yellow jasper, tiger eyes (brown, red & blues), blue lace agates ~ I adore these as much as the amethysts ~ apache tears, pipestone, smokey quartz, rose quartz, malachite, howlite, carnelians ~ love, love carnelians, onyx, black obsidian. sodalite, lapis lazuli, moonstones,,,,I have to pull out my boxes and get them all organized and some still need to be photographed before I can list them. I just know I've left a few off the ones I've named ~LOL~

I have them EVERYWHERE in the house, inside and out  I have a small dragon alter that has a 50mm sphere that is called "Silverleaf" (?-but its purdy :D ), a 50mm sphere of dragonstone, a 25mm clear crystal quartz sphere, a large piece of malachite and a slice of blue agate that has been cut into a moon & star and sits in a stand to hold a tealight candle behind it so you can see the color swirls of the agate, my curio cabinet has an amethyst geode in it, my nebulizer machine has moonstones in it, almost every box or container I have has a carnelian in it (oops-don't swallow that! :rotfl: ). My alter has a slab of pipestone, black obsidian, carnelian, rose quartz, moonstone gemstones, a four direction sphere set up 50mm each of yellow calcite, red agate/black obsidian swirl, blue angelite (that one was pricey) and green moss agate, I have an 80mm sphere clear crystal quartz for the goddess, a red crystal quartz for the God and a 50mm sphere of black obsidian for scrying, a yellow jasper, a black obsidian & clear crystal quartz flat worry stones, a blue kyanite blade, an aragonite cluster, an amethyst cluster, a blue celestite cluster, raw green calcite and a tittanium cluster (amazing process how these are formed  ), a natural pyramid quartz found at the riverbed that runs just downstream from the sacred site behind our property, and of course an abalone shell on its stand for smudging, on the end table in the livingroom is a clear crystal dish with a collection of stones gathered all from Nevada, Washington and here at our home property. we have a couple of boulder sized (so it seems!) stones by the door that were used for tanning & fire starting from the Indian village that our property sit on, a few arrowheads - all this within just my immediate view as I sit here ~

Did I say I was crystal crazy? :faint:

shushhhh ~ don't tell anyone but I'm collecting a few pendulums too :shifty:

Did I tell you that I have a box and lined container too that are full of gemstones I just can't seem to bring myself to put in the store and have added to my own collection?

I haven't even begun to learn all the magickal properties and uses,,,,I feel like such a babe in the woods,,,,I just got another gemstone book called "The Crystal Bible" by Judy Hall - it was rated 5 star on Amazon and so far looks to be a sweet little treasure.

DO stop by and share ALL you know about crystals moon~willow and I'd love for you to bring your collection in katherined ~
oh I'm excited now

Blessings, Silver Firelite

you are not alone ;) we have rocks and crystals covering 3 altars plus more hidden away in boxes to be used as needed. I never leave the house without a few stones in my pocket. The only thing I try to avoid as much as possible is to shop crystals online. I am very picky about the energy of each stone I buy and sometimes regardless if bought online or found in a store they just feel flat. Stones have to call out to me. I am not sure where you live but to me the best way is to visit local rock and mineral shows. So many shiny thingies and often only handled by the one person who found them...

I have purchased several of my gemstones online and to a certain degree I would have to agree IS02 ~ they definitely require cleansing ~ except there is one particular supplier on eBay that I use pretty much exclusively and she has wonderful energy and carries a wonderful selection. You get what she pictures and I can just tell by looking at the pictures if they are or aren't generating the right energy when I place my bids ~ Her name is Angelhuggs4you and she lives in Sacramento, CA if you ever get a chance to check her out. She knows me and what I like so well and I buy so much stuff from her that every now and again I find a little surprise in my packages and it is always loaded with awesome energy. Last package I got a smokey quartz pendulum that I'm having a hard time making my mind up if I really need two in my personal collection!! I wish we had a mineral store nearby or even within a hundred miles ~ except I'd be afraid if I walked in I wouldn't walk out, at least not with a penny left to my name :rotfl:

Most of my spheres I have gotten from a supplier in China ~ takes a while to get here but everyone I've ordered have been more than worth the wait

I checked out your source, Silver. Wow, great prices. The pictures are really great too. I was able to feel like certain crystals were calling to me...over the internet! It's much more fun though to buy them in a store or at a Gem and Mineral show, but I have only been to one such show purely by luck! I was visiting another show at the convention center when I noticed one going on the side. I found this listing of show dates in the US: http://www.rockngem.com/showdates/

I also got a whole bag of stones I really liked when passing through the Salt Lake City airport, the gift shop there was selling a little velvet bag for a good price that could be filled with various colors of polished stones and crystals.

I've found that certain kinds of specimens and clusters have the best energy and maybe it's just because they have been touched much less. I'm looking to get a large amethyst cathedral piece. I was in an office recently that had one in their conference room and the energy was amazing. Those pieces are really heavy, so aside from whoever cut it in half, very few others would have touched it. I also am not very happy with my collection of red stones, I want my reds to be a more blood red or burgundy in color and most of them are on the orange side. I use my small polished stones as corresponding energy, talismans and chakra stones.

I LOVE my crystals :) I have always been into crystals, rocks, seashells, snail shells! - I used to collect the strangest things when I was younger!!!

Recently I have really really got into buying and working with crystals. I've always used them, but I've never really branched out from your most common ones - Amethyst, Tigers Eye, Rose Quartz etc etc...

Recently (within the last month or 2) I have aqquired - all from Ebay, lol - a huge collection, and I have loads more coming at the moment. Its now a regular thing for me, I'll go over to ebay on pay day and pay for more...I've been using one shop alot, his prices are great, he gets awesome crystals, and the postage costs from the US to the UK are brilliant as well. I've also joined a facebook group, and met some amazing people who sell lovely crystal things too, and thats really got my juices flowing again for crystal collecting.

I'm putting my deposit down on my crystal healing course at the beginning of October. So hopefully, by March next year, I will be a fully qualified crystal healer! Its a part of my 5 year plan, I also have another 3 courses to do and I can set up my business...

I've also got a few crystal meditations to try out. One involves meeting the spirit of the crystal, which sounds amazing.

I have to say, crystals and my faith system have been the only things to get me through the last month and a half. With my brother being killed, so suddenly, my emotions and stress levels were astronomical. Include those with a set of divorced parents you have been estranged and strained with for 13 years and my head was all over the place. I took my crystals (mostly my newly aqquired ones - Its very spooky how they all came into my life at the right moments, as I ordered them before the accident happened) with me every time I went over. I actually held onto my kunzite wand so so tightly during the funeral plans I nearly cut my hand.
And my Selenite brought me such peace of mind, and held my emotions in at the funeral and wake. So yes, I think without those I would have been an absolute wreck...

LOVE LOVE LOVE cystals :D

Glad you liked Angel's stuff ~ She is a doll and yes, I can feel the energy of her stones from the internet too :D I have yet to be disappointed with anything I've gotten from her. I'm afraid to even go look anymore because I'll end up spending more money and hubby says it would be nice to have USPS/UPS/FED X TAKING packages instead of dropping them off :miss purple:

I'm not familiar with all the places listed under Minnesota (except Bloomington and that's all the way to the cities-4hrs from us-and hubby gets mean when he has to drive anywhere near the cities :rotfl: ) and everything else is even further away and more difficult because its not easy for us to travel long distances with my oxygen dependence --- so its the internet for me. That's why I buy from Angel. I've tried other suppliers and few of the gemstones I get have her energy :dunno:

A crystal healing course sounds amazing, is it online?

Yes, its through a place called 'Stonebridge Associated College' .. its a little over £300, but I will gain a 'Crystal Healer Practionior' diploma at the end of it, which I need in the UK to officially practice ... Very excited, lol :0

I think it was a £50 deposit and then £30 a month or something like that. 10 lessons long, so depending on how quickly I can get through it depends on how many months it will take. The average person it says will need 180 hours to complete it, so I'm hoping where I use crystals already I'll have a bit of a head start on it.

Greetings, Every-One

My Goodness, that's a long list of Crystallines, Silver Firelight! At the moment, I'm a little over-awed reading through the thread - where would I begin!?

But it's wonderful to see so many with a love of & so in-tune with the world of Crystallines!

Melba, I'm so sorry to hear of your recent sadness, and such difficulties... Please accept my sincere condolences. I cannot help but say that those Crystallines that you chose to draw near to you show that you already have a natural connection to their world, their energies...What a wonder~filled path you (& they) are about to take! I wonder, have you chosen a particular Crystal with which to meditate? Sometimes, Crystal Devas can take us totally unawares, so (with your connection seeming to be quite a natural one) please don't be surprised if you're greeted quite impromptu by one of your companions!

Katherine, if you're looking for red stones, they can be a little bit costly. Maybe Bixbite (Red Beryl), Ruby, tumbled Cinnabar (sometimes called Dragon's Blood), some Mookite Jaspers are a wonderfull deep burgundy colour, or Tugtupite - a beautiful Crystalline from Greenland, place her in Sunlight she'll turn a wonderful deep red...Some Sardonyx can be a lovely rich red - Garnets are very deeply red...Do you have any of those already?

~LOL~ Did I say I was crystal, gemstone & rock crazy? :rotfl:
Which crystal do you find to be the best for your meditations and do you find spheres give more energy during meditations -vs- smaller stones or raw crystals?

I just got my new book ~ "The Crystal Bible" by Judy Hall and your reply to katherine sent me pawing through it! I had heard of Dragon's Blood but never really did much study ~ it says Cinnabar in its raw form is toxic and to use tumbled as you listed & to wash hands after using ~ it does have a lot of positive attributes but something I'm definitely going to approach with caution! The readily available but expensive part helps :D

I love the red beryl it pictures ~ Alexandrite that appears green in natural light and red in artificial light sounds like an awesome piece to have in your collection ~ but again ~ says Alexandrite is rare AND expensive :(

Red jasper is my all time favorite and I carry a piece of it around all the time ~ it is considered a sacred stone of the Native Indians as it represents the blood of the earth mother - I love this crystal bible as it also shows the Mookaite jasper which appears to be a more red-brown - it also lists black jasper of which I have one tiny piece I guard selfishly.

Rubies ~ I love the polished gemstones, but again expensive :(

Tugtupite was not listed in my crystal bible so I went to google to check it out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tugtupite
http://grstones.tripod.com/prod01.htm
:eeek: if you hit the ebay store on the second link :eeek: hubby better hit the lotto if I'll ever see a piece of that in my crystal collection :lmao:

Sardonyx looks more like something I could add to my collection ~ most of the pictures I saw were banded and the one shown in the crystal bible looks similar to a red carnelian???

And garnets and I don't seem to get along,,,,I like the colors and the girl I buy alot of my gemstones from carries it quite often and I've yet to connect any energy to them ~ why would that be?

In short on this one - Willow~Moon is so right about red stones being a bit costly,,,,Has anyone ever said YOU HAVE EXPENSIVE TASTES KATHERINE!!! :rotfl:

It's the story of my life! I remember my good friend telling my Mom that I have Champagne taste on a beer budget---like 25 years ago. Just today Hubby was talking to me about making cheaper choices....I'm afraid my children are taking after me. The other day my son was asking me when we are going to be rich again. I hope it's soon. Business is improving for us.

Wait till you see the type of cathedral amethyst piece I want to buy!

I'd like to get one at least one foot tall
